Our Heritage
Rooted in Championship Golf
Founded in 1946, Northwood quickly established its place in American golf history. In 1952, the Club hosted the U.S. Open Championship, where Julius Boros prevailed over a field that included Ben Hogan.
Today, the restored championship course continues to honor the original vision of architect Bill Diddel while providing a thoughtful, challenging and rewarding experience for modern players.

Golf remains central to the Club’s identity, but the Northwood experience extends well beyond the course through dining, racquets, fitness, aquatics, youth programming and traditions shared across generations.
1946
Northwood Club opens in Dallas.
1952
Northwood hosts the U.S. Open Championship.
2015
The course joins the Texas Registry of Historic Courses.
2017
The restored championship course and short course open.

The Next Chapter
Honoring the Past. Building the Future.
Northwood is undertaking a transformative capital plan designed to shape the Club experience for generations to come.
The first major chapter, The Terrace, opened in spring 2025 and introduced a new dining and gathering experience for Northwood members.
Work is now underway on a completely new clubhouse that will bring together hospitality, dining, gathering spaces and member services in a setting designed specifically for Northwood’s future.
These investments reflect the same philosophy that has guided the Club throughout its history: preserve what makes Northwood distinctive while continuing to thoughtfully improve the member experience.
