Due to the uncertainty of the coronavirus situation, this program may be subject to revision or cancellation in order to comply with government requirements regarding social distancing. We will act in the best interest of our members and make safety and health a priority.
If there is no threat of lightning (we have a warning system) participants can still swim at the pool. Lunch can be eaten indoors by the pool. Tennis will continue on the indoor courts. Golf instruction will be continued at the indoor tennis courts facility. If lightning occurs at the pool area, participants will continue to be supervised indoors until pickup time at 1:00 p.m. for Tennis Skills Programs and 2:00 p.m. for Golf Skills Program.
Summer Skills Program staff escort the participants to the pool area and help them with getting buffet lunch. As participants complete their lunch, small groups ready may go to the shallow end of the pool as a group to be watched by pool lifeguards. As more participants finish lunch, those kids are allowed to go to the shallow end. Once all or most kids are finished eating, kids are allowed to roam the pool area at will. Youth staff will be vigilantly stationed at this time in deep ends, shallow ends, and fountain/bucket dump areas. There are also certified pool lifeguards watching your child. Some member parents also choose to sit/lay at the pool watching their kids have a good time with the other children. New this year: All swimmers must pass a swim test before utilizing the diving boards.
We ask that you please have a contingency plan established for this happening. Please have Northwood members, friends, nannies, babysitters, other family, etc. available to pick your child up on or before Skills Program ending for the day. Northwood must be notified if someone other than a parent is picking your child up from Skills Program. If you have a Northwood member friend with children at the pool, you may wish to call them to request they watch your child until you arrive. Children in the pool at the conclusion of Skills Program for the day are told to get out of the water. Children which have not been picked up at the pool by the conclusion of the 20 minute grace period following the end of Skills Program for the day will be escorted back to the Tennis Shop for Tennis Skills Programs and the Golf Shop for Golf Skills Programs to await pickup. A fee will be assessed at that time for late pickup.
